How to: Set your preferred panoramic view

Use the in-built Dewarp features to create views from wide angle cameras so that the detail is easier to see. Depending on how your wide angle (also known as panoramic, fish-eye, 360° or other similar terms) camera is mounted, the view from each camera can be shown as a globe view, a single 16:9 panoramic view, or as two separate pictures, each representing half of the camera field of view.

Task — Open the Video view or Map view tool

1. Log in to your Aware video management system.
2. Click New tool from the tool ribbon, then select either Video view or Map view.

Task — Set the panoramic view in Video view

1. Select the camera of interest, and drag it on one of the Video view panes.
2. Right-click the camera view, and click Preset views. Alternatively, select Preset views from the top-right of the camera view.
3. Select your preferred view from the options displayed.

   The options available depend on the type of camera and how it is mounted — either ceiling mounted or wall mounted.

   Ceiling mounted:

   • Globe — initially seen as a "fisheye" view, use the mouse wheel to zoom into the view to see the dewarped detail, and click and drag to pan around the view of the camera. View the thumbnail image to see an indication of the section of view you are looking at.
   • Panoramic — the view from the panoramic camera is dewarped and displayed as a rectangle.
   • 2x1 — the dewarped Panoramic view, split into two equal rectangles, so that each sub-view represents a 180° view from the camera.

   Wall mounted:

   • Globe — initially seen as a "fisheye" view, use the mouse wheel to zoom into the view to see the dewarped detail, and click and drag to pan around the view of the camera. View the thumbnail image to see an indication of the section of view you are looking at.
   • Panoramic — the view from the panoramic camera is dewarped. Click and drag the area of interest, or use the mouse wheel to zoom into the view.
4. Click Save video view, and enter a name for the new view.
5. Optionally, share this view, so other users' can use it.
6. Click Save.

Task — Set the panoramic view in Map view

1. Select the map containing the camera of interest.
2. Select the panoramic camera of interest by clicking the camera icon, right-clicking and selecting Open video.
3. Click Maximize video to expand the camera view.
4. Hover over the feed from the camera, and click Preset views.
5. Select your preferred view from the options displayed.

   The options available depend on the type of camera and how it is mounted — either ceiling mounted or wall mounted.

   Ceiling mounted:

   • Globe — initially seen as a "fisheye" view, use the mouse wheel to zoom into the view to see the dewarped detail, and click and drag to pan around the view of the camera. View the thumbnail image to see an indication of the section of view you are looking at.
   • Panoramic — the view from the panoramic camera is dewarped and displayed as a rectangle.
   • 2x1 — the dewarped Panoramic view, split into two equal rectangles, so that each sub-view represents a 180° view from the camera.

   Wall mounted:

   Zoom into the view of wall mounted panoramic cameras using the mouse wheel, and click and drag to pan around the view of the camera.

6. Click Preset views and then select Save video view, and enter a name for the new view.
7. Optionally, select whether to share this view, making it appear on all other users' Views lists.
8. Click Save.
