How to: Create rules for System issues

Last modified: Tuesday May 07, 2024.

Create rules to alert your Avigilon Alta operators when issues with your Cloud Connectors occur. This enables your staff to then rectify the issues before they impact your Alta video security systems.

Prerequisites

To use Template time and date settings, make sure you have configured them before creating the rule.

Task — Create the System issues rule

  1. Choose Tools Tools > Rules Rules.
  2. Click the System tab.
  3. Click Add Add.
  4. Type a name for the rule.
  5. Select System issues.
  6. Set the Level of importance for the rule.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select the type of Internal appliance issues you want to detect.
    1. You can create a rule to detect when the audit log storage is almost full and download any required logs. Enter the percentage of used storage that triggers the rule. When the storage is full, Aware automatically deletes older logs.
  9. Select the type of External appliance issues you want to detect.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Select the Cloud Connectors to be monitored for your selected issues.
Use the All servers toggle to monitor across all your deployment.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Specify when or how the rule is activated.
You can create or use Templates to simplify adding the same date and time parameters to multiple rules.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Select your required actions. Select from:
    • Pop-up — when triggered, pops up a notification in Aware that includes a thumbnail view of the camera view that triggered the rule.
To receive notifications on the Alta Aware mobile app, check Also send a push notification on the mobile app.
    • Email — when triggered, an email message is sent to the defined user or group of users.
    • External link— when triggered, Aware automatically creates a shared external link that can be embedded in an Email or Webhook notification.
    • Webhook — when triggered, enables notification via a webhook to your preferred communication system.

Alarms are only shown to operators that have access to the cameras that trigger the rule.

  16. Choose to require your operators to verify the triggered rule.
  17. Click Done.
