How to: Create email messages to send Aware notifications

When creating rules, you can configure email messages with templated information. When the rule triggers, the email message then contains information relevant to the rule, for example, the exact camera that caused the rule to trigger.

Prerequisites

You must have configured Alta Aware to be able to send email messages.

Task — Create the email template

You can create and select email for any of the available rule types. The relevant options are defined in the Actions section of the Rules creation dialog.

  1. Choose Tools Tools > Rules Rules.
  2. Follow the instructions to configure the relevant type of rule.

  3. In the rule you are creating, select Email from the Actions section of the Rules dialog box.
  4. Enter the email addresses of the recipients of the notification.

    To send to multiple recipients, separate each email address with a comma (,).

  5. Create the body of the email message.
    To use the available template items, click + Show included info and template parameters.
    For example, type:
    Attention,
    Something has triggered a Aware video security system rule:
    Rule name: $ruleName
    Camera: $cameraName
    Camera view: $cameraView
    View alarm: $url
  6. Click Done.
