How to: Select the Ava camera upgrade channel

Last modified: Tuesday February 23, 2021.

When enabled by your Avigilon Alta partner, you can choose to have your Avigilon Ava cameras update from either the Auto, Stable, or the Beta upgrade channel.

When Auto is selected, the Avigilon Ava cameras are upgraded using the same channel as your Aware deployment.

The Beta upgrade channel hosts the latest features for your Avigilon Ava camera. However, these features might not be fully functioning, or require further testing. The Stable upgrade channel has the current fully-tested version of the firmware.

We recommend that the Beta upgrade channel is only used for testing Avigilon Ava cameras — production Avigilon Ava cameras should update from the Auto or Stable upgrade channels.

This is a per-device setting, so you can choose, for example, to have one Avigilon Ava camera updating from the Beta channel for testing purposes, whilst having all your other Avigilon Ava cameras update from the Stable upgrade channel.

Task — Select the Avigilon Ava camera upgrade channel

  1. Choose Tools Open a tool > Devices Devices.
  2. Select the Avigilon Ava camera of interest.

Use the Search for devices search to find the camera in large lists of devices.

  3. From the Settings area, click Edit settings.

    The Settings dialog opens.

  4. Select Maintenance.
  5. From the Upgrade channel dropdown, and if enabled by your Avigilon Alta partner, select your preferred Upgrade channel, either Auto (default), Stable, or Beta.
  6. Click Done.
